With nearly 40 percent of the country set aside for wildlife, Botswana encompasses some of the last great safari destinations in Africa. Vast open plains provide unforgettable vistas over a land unchanged for generations, these plains provide habitat for astoundingly varieties of wildlife including endangered species, such as Wild Dog, Cheetah, Brown Hyena, Cape Vulture, Wattled Crane, Kori Bustard, and Pel’s Fishing Owl.
Botswana is also home to the Okavango Delta; a great expanse of pools and channels providing sustenance in the sands of the Kalahari Desert. In the centre of the country the world’s second largest game reserve, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, protects summer grazing for vast herds of plains game. The Makgadikgadi Pans, the size of Portugal and uninhabited allow visitors to get away from the pressures of the world.
In the north the Chobe National Park protects Africa’s great elephant herds, drawing life from the Chobe River. The river’s life giving waters also provide for huge herds of buffalo and other plains game along with prides of lion and other predators.

The World’s Greatest Inland Delta
Africa’s premier safari destination the Okavango Delta is a unique pulsing wetland. Covering between 6 and 15 000 square kilometres of Kalahari Desert in northern Botswana the delta owes its existence to the Okavango (Kavango) River which flows from the Angolan highlands, across Namibia’s Caprivi Strip and into the Kalahari Desert.
