Family Safaris
The perfect way to bring the family together
Get away from the pressures of modern life with an African family safari
The right African safari provides the perfect opportunity to bring families together as they experience the wilds of Africa together. Here, away from the pressures of modern life, parents and children can focus on each other without being distracted by emails, mobile telephones, social media and computers.
It is important to choose the right safari, particularly for younger children, as trying to shoehorn children into programmes designed for adults can be frustrating both for children and other guests. A number of camps and lodges do not accept younger children or place restrictions on activities. These restrictions are motivated both to protect other guest’s safari experience, but also on grounds of child safety, and often include the requirement for private activities.
Realising the demand for family safaris a number of operators have established specialist programmes and camps for children. These include Ker & Downey Botswana’s Young Explorer programme and Wilderness Safaris’ Seba Camp. &Beyond also provides a bespoke children’s offering.
