Ngala Tented Camp is located in the private Ngala Game Reserve incorporated into the world famous Kruger National Park and has exclusive traversing rights over 14 700 hectares of first rate wilderness in one of the worlds largest wildlife sanctuaries. This huge wilderness area is home to a spectacular diversity of wildlife, including breeding herds of elephant and buffalo along with giraffe and white rhino. Appropriately, with Ngala meaning lion in Shangaan the local language, the area is home to several large prides of lion. Leopard, African wild dog and spotted hyena are also frequently seen.
Ngala Tented Camp is chic and contemporary and renowned for sophisticated tented accommodation. Comprising just nine luxurious tented suites each set on raised platforms with private wooden decks and outdoor showers and baths mounted on rough-hewn wooden bases. The suites are completed by swirling overhead fans, air conditioning, electric blankets for winter. The overall feel is African, with warm, earthy tones used throughout.
Designed to blend into the riverside trees the tents are built on platforms minimising impact on the environment. The camp itself is shaded by mature indigenous shade trees, forming a luxuriantly cool canopy overhead. Elegant guest areas overlook the seasonal Timbavati River. Food at Ngala is as individual and inventive and Private lunch platters are savoured on the viewing decks, at the poolside or on the lush lawn. Unforgettable theatrical al fresco dinners are served in the dry riverbed.
Ngala Tented Camp has a lap pool following the contours of the riverbank. This is the perfect place for idle afternoon game viewing, while a massage sala provides true relaxation.
Sharing a boundary with the Kruger National Park Ngala Game Reserve was the first private game reserve to be incorporated into the park. The reserve offers an fantastic African wildlife experience, with early morning and late afternoon game drives led by expert ranger and tracker teams. Sensitive off-roading practices allow close-up game sightings, whilst walking safaris and bush walks are also offered.
One of Africa’s most innovative conservation partnerships sees the annual lease, traversing fees and a percentage of profit paid to the National Parks Trust to further conservation projects throughout South Africa.
Ngala Tented Camp is easily accessible with daily Federal Air flights from OR Tambo International Airport directly to Ngala Airstrip or Daily SA Express flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Eastgate Airport, followed by a one-hour road transfer.
Alternatively Ngala Tented Camp is a six-hour drive in a two-wheel drive vehicle from Johannesburg on excellent roads.

The Kruger region experiences summer rainfall (September to April) falling as late afternoon and evening thundershowers.
Summers in Kruger are hot with temperatures reaching mid 30o Celsius.
Winters are cold in the morning with midday with temperatures between 2o and 16o Celsius.

Ngala Tented Camp is excellent year round.
The Kruger National Park provides good bird viewing with approximately 260 species of birds found withing the park. These include Woodland Kingfisher, Scops Owl, Marico Sunbird, Spotted-backed Weaver and White-throated Robin.
Ngala Tented Camp is situated in a wildlife area and is not fenced. Guests are requested to take care at all times and adhere to guidance given by guides and camp management.
