The Elephant Camp
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
The magnificent Victoria Falls are situated in northern Zimbabwe on the mighty Zambezi River. The Elephant Camp provides a wonderful way to experience the Falls as well as superb elephant and cheetah interaction. All rooms look out over the Zambezi Gorge and beyond to the mist rising from the Victoria Falls.
The Elephant Camp is a superb property just outside Victoria Falls. The camp allows easy access to the Victoria Falls and there associated activities, whilst being far enough from the town not to be disturbed by the hustle and bustle. The camp’s pièce de résistance are however the high quality elephant interactions provided within the concession, including elephant safaris.
The camp accommodates just 24 guests in 12 expansive tents overlooking the concession with panoramic views ranging from the Falls in the west to the Batoka gorge in the east. The camp’s tents all have private decks and plunge pools, perfect for cooling off in the heat of the summer. The emphasis is very much on luxury with tents all including both indoor and outdoor showers, huge baths, private lounges, mini bar and tea/coffee stations as well as overhead fans and air conditioning. All tents are mosquito proofed.
Public areas overlook the waterhole, fed by natural streams in the wet season, and provide magnificent views of the gorge and Falls in the distance. Meals are provided by dedicated local chefs and are prepared using fresh seasonal ingredients and herbs grown in the lodge gardens. Traditional African dishes and accompaniments, such as Sadza (African-style polenta) and Chakalaka (a hot, spicy relish) further give a taste of the real Africa.
Along with traditional Victoria Falls experiences The Elephant Camp has a close partnership with the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust, allowing guests to experience the important work the trust undertakes. Guests can also interact with a variety of animals including Sylvester, an orphaned cheetah, who performs an ambassadorial role exposing people to this incredible species.
